How skills checklists work
Understanding steps, order, and critical steps — so checklist practice with NEXA makes sense from day one.
A skill is a sequence, not a pile of facts
Every CNA skill you learn is defined by an approved checklist: an ordered series of steps. Doing the right things in the wrong order can matter as much as skipping a step.
When you practice with NEXA, it compares what you say against the approved checklist for that skill — it never invents steps or criteria of its own.
Critical steps
Some steps are marked critical because they protect safety, dignity, or infection control. Missing a critical step is treated differently from missing an ordinary one, and NEXA will always tell you which kind you missed and why it matters.
Your official course materials define which steps are critical for each skill. NEXA teaches from those materials once they are loaded — it will never guess.
How NEXA scores a practice attempt
After you talk through a skill, NEXA reports three things: steps you missed, steps you did out of order, and steps you described incorrectly — with critical steps highlighted separately.
Each attempt is saved to your learning record so you and your instructor can see your progress across attempts, not just your latest try.
